In Rome new "spaces for contemporary dance"

23 04 2009 (Theatre) Dance and territorial policies at the Teatro Valle in Rome

Wednesday, April 22 was presented at the Teatro Valle in Rome, the exhibition "space for contemporary dance" Focus 2009. The project is promoted by the Lazio Region, in cooperation with the regions of Piedmont and Campania, coordinated by the Italian Theatre with the support of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture. This project will stage 4 to 14 May, again at the Teatro Valle in Rome, and aims to showcase the fruit of two years of performances, workshops, meetings and discussions between artists, actors and audience, creating a dance festival contemporary art that includes two shows. The first Hell (on stage 4 and 5 May) is a Greek work of the choreographer Emio that, through the representation of hell, he wants to define the contours of our physical identity and unleash the unpredictability. The second one, entitled The nature of things, (on stage 13 and May 14) based on precisely the De rerum natura of Lucretius, it was explained during the press conference by the same choreographer Virgilio Sieni: "This show debuted in 2008 with the Teatro Stabile of Tuscany, with twenty replicates, is characterized by a central figure, that of Venus, seen as one who creates charming and subtle, but at the same time it is also the horror and the monstrous ". This second theme Siena is always contemporary, and not likely ever to expire or be out of place or out of time. The choice of the work of Lucretius is born from the author's perception of the nature of things by telling the real essence of them, where everything is born from a seed. The conference has also intervened
the Councillor for Culture, Sport and Entertainment in the Lazio Region Rhone-Giulia, which has introduced noting the difficulty of the project to go ahead, especially after the numerous funding cuts in recent times. Councillor Rhone also emphasized the problem of the great "leg drain", referring to all the dancers and choreographers find themselves having to emigrate in order to have adequate opportunities to be realized to the fullest. There is difficulty in finding places of Italy and innovations on which to build the stable collective experience of the artists on which to build a proper education of the public, everything is at the root of the problem of dance in Italy. Although our country is spreading and is growing the relationship with the body, which is great and perfect per ospitare il tema danza e coreografia, le politiche pubbliche non riescono a coniugare queste due attività al meglio. In questo ambiente il progetto Spazi per la danza contemporanea è un’esperienza positiva e dovrebbe essere uno spunto per un’analisi più approfondita dell’argomento, magari ricercandone anche le soluzioni.
